Mayor Bieter: Sign on with other mayors for DAPA and DACA
While Idaho lawmakers waste money with a frivolous lawsuit against the president, a group of mayors, led by the cities of New York and Los Angeles, have signed an amicus (friend of the court) brief giving their support to President Barack Obama’s executive actions to expand DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) and DAPA (Deferred Action for Parental Accountability), according to the Huffington Post.
But one notable name is absent from the list: Boise Mayor Dave Bieter.
Bieter was at the US Conference of Mayors conference in Washington, DC when the mayoral support for Obama’s executive action on immigration was announced, where he could have taken advantage of his position to give voice to his Latino constituents in Idaho at a national level.
Mayor Bieter: every single Idahoan benefits from the labor of Idaho Latinos. You must sign this amicus brief in support of the president’s actions, indicating that you support our efforts to keep our families together. We may be a minority in your jurisdiction, but we matter. It costs you nothing but a handful of angry racists in Boise, but the Latino community is certainly worth it!
